Jonathan has spent his 20 year career honing his skills with high-end, traditional architecture.
He is a rare ‘all-rounder’, proficient with all RIBA work stages and has worked on projects ranging from £100k to £35m and on listed buildings up to and including Grade I.
Jonathan's unique skill is reading the architectural context of a place or host building and deploying his extensive vocabulary of architectural styles to meet the client's brief within that context.
From Arts & Crafts to Victorian Gothic; Georgian to Classical; Edwardian to Modernist, Jonathan can find a beautiful solution to any opportunity or constraint.
Jonathan's career began in Lutyens land, working in and around Farnham and Guildford where the 'Surrey Style' is prevalent. Within two years he was running projects, working on listed buildings and with independent schools. His passion for 'variety in tradition' was honed at Ian Adam-Smith Architects where he spent seven invaluable years before moving to classical specialists, ADAM Architecture in Winchester, quickly becoming Robert Adam’s Associate Director. After Robert Adam retired, Jonathan rose to a Director role at OSP architecture in Farnham where he cut his teeth with larger scale place-making and community projects. Before setting up Jonathan Fox Architecture, he spent three years at Winchester based housebuilder, Shorewood Homes, which provided invaluable experience of the 'client' side of projects.
Beyond the office, Jonathan spent four years as Chair of RIBA Southeast and is sitting vice chair of the Northeast Hampshire Design Review Panel. He is an avid squash & padel player, amateur cook and drummer and lives with his family and dog in a small country village just outside Winchester.
